Skills Shortage: Technician and parts jobs are essential to creating a strong workforce, resulting in a prosperous economy. These jobs are currently in very high demand, and are projected to continue to be for at least the next ten years. There is also a high percentage of retirement expected in the next 12 years, creating opportunity for new tradespersons to start their careers.
Valuable Knowledge: Through their training, apprentices become familiar with the latest technology, tools, and diagnostic equipment in the industry. In addition to the technological skills acquired during training, apprentices also learn to work well in a team and learn from each other collaboratively. They are used to continuous learning and keeping their skills current, making them extremely valuable employees.
Work Experience: Apprentices gain work experience over the course of their program, allowing them to not only apply the knowledge they learned in their technical training, but also to earn a living while earning their Certificate of Qualification. Apprentices are also available to apply for Employment Insurance while attending their technical training classes at an accredited college.
Tax Credits: The Federal government awards up to $4,000 in tax credits over the course of apprenticeship programs, even if the fees were subsidized by the apprentice’s employer.
